Get Employee Buy in

Your Situation:
There is a lot of change going on in our world. It can range from technology upending our business model to new competitors disrupting our business with a low-cost answer to our high-end offering. Add to it the changing demands and expectations of our customers. We need to start doing things differently as well as go into new markets where we have little or no experience. What makes it worse is that we can’t seem to get people moving in the direction we need to go. We can’t afford to have people dragging their feet. We need them to jump on-board before it’s too late and our slim window of opportunity shuts completely.
Our Approach:
Experience tells us that there are discreet steps in getting people to adopt a different way of doing things. We can accelerate or re-order the sequence but it’s imprudent to think you can shortchange them. Our approach starts with building awareness and interest. Then we create opportunities for targeted groups and individuals to “test out” the new way so they can see for themselves what it is and isn’t. Throughout these steps we are asking for feedback and suggestions to both gain buy-in as well as form the smartest version of the change. As the new ways start to take root, we look for places to establish and reinforce these practices as standards to ensure they become the new “this is how we do things around here.”
We recommend you complete the quick audit listed below to help you identify the holes in your current strategy for getting employees bought in. This will help you zero in on new initiatives that can kick-start or re-energize your change efforts. It will also help us provide you faster and more targeted solutions should you wish to engage us to help you gain critical employee buy-in. We recommend you have each member of the executive team complete this individually and then discuss the answers as a team to surface different perspectives and insights.
