De-Mystify Leading Innovation
Your Situation:
I know innovation has to be a big part of growing our business. But when I look at my executive team I’m not sure if we’re doing all we could to cultivate innovative thinking around here. It’s not even clear to me where or how to begin. The role models people always point to seem to be exceptional people to begin with. And yes, we need to be innovative but we also need to run the day-to-day business. How do I work with my direct reports to make sure they are doing the right things to drive innovation in our company?
Our Approach:
Experience tells us that innovative thinking and being a leader that fosters innovation has much more to do with engaging in certain practices than being hardwired a certain way. We use validated instruments to help you gain greater insight into the impact your actions have on fostering innovation in your organization. We uncover practices and perspectives that can seriously inhibit your ability to think creatively. Using this data, we can either set up a customized coaching plan or training program for your entire executive team to help you develop the skills and behaviors characteristic of leaders of innovation.
Getting Started:
We recommend you begin by completing the Job Demands Assessment listed below for the positions that report to you. Complete a separate assessment for each position you oversee. Please note that this assessment does not ask you to rate the person who occupies the position but the position itself. In other words, what do you expect of anyone in this position in order to contribute to your company’s success? With this information we can begin to evaluate how well each of your current leadership team members is meeting these demands. From there we can identify the appropriate actions they can take to encourage innovation.
